What you’ll be doing:
The Head of Technology is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), responsible for defining and delivering the organisation's technology strategy while contributing to the wider strategic direction of the business. The role provides leadership across technology, digital transformation, innovation, and operational resilience to support sustainable growth within an appropriate risk framework.
Working collaboratively with the SLT, to translate strategic objectives into scalable technology solutions, programmes, and capabilities that improve operational efficiency, strengthen organisational resilience, and enable business growth. They will provide expert insight, challenge, and structured thinking to support informed decision-making whilst ensuring technology investments deliver measurable value to the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
· Act as an active member of the SLT, contributing to the strategy, prioritisation, and business decision-making.
· Provide strategic technology leadership, insight, and challenge to support build
· Represent technology interests at SLT level, clearly articulating opportunities, risks, constraints, dependencies, and investment requirements.
· Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to balance competing priorities and ensure alignment to strategic objectives.
· Contribute to company-wide discussions relating to risk management, innovation, operational effectiveness, and long-term organisational capability.
· Define and deliver the technology strategy in alignment with organisations objectives.
· Identify, evaluate, and implement technology solutions that improve efficiency, scalability, profitability, and organisational effectiveness.
· Champion the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, where they provide a measurable business benefit.
· Lead, develop, and inspire the technology function, creating a high-performing and future-focused team.
· Own the technology depart budget, ensuring effective investment, cost control, value realisation, and alignment with strategic organisation priorities.
· Develop business cases for technology expenditure and investment, demonstrating expected outcomes, benefits, risks, and return on investment.
· Anticipate future technology and capability needs, providing clear recommendations to support long-term business planning.
· Identify opportunities where strategic objectives require structured programme delivery rather than standalone initiatives.
· Lead the design, governance, and oversight of business and technology transformation programmes.
· Work closely with Project Success and business stakeholders to ensure appropriate project management support and governance.
· Oversee programme delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, effective management of risks and dependencies, and achievement of intended outcomes.
· Provide clear and concise reporting to the SLT on programme performance, benefits realisation, risks, and opportunities.
· Ensure technology services, projects, and initiatives align with organisational priorities and risk appetite while balancing operational delivery with long-term innovation and transformation objectives.
· Maintain oversight of major technology initiatives, ensuring effective coordination of dependencies across the business.
· Track and communicate the business impact of technology investments, including efficiency gains, cost optimisation, resilience improvements, and capability enhancement.
· Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and responsible adoption of technology.
On day one you will bring:
· Significant leadership experience within a technology, cyber, digital transformation, or operational delivery environment.
· Experience operating at a senior leadership level and contributing to organisational strategy.
· Proven ability to develop and deliver technology strategy that drives business outcomes.
· Experience leading complex programmes, change initiatives, and cross-functional delivery teams.
· Strong commercial awareness and the ability to build compelling investment and resource cases.
· Experience leading and developing senior technical professionals and managers.
· Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills, including at Executive and Board level.
· Strong analytical and systems-thinking capability, with the ability to simplify complex issues and support effective decision-making.
· Desirable: Programme management qualifications or demonstrable experience leading complex organisational technological transformation programmes.
Desirable Qualifications & Certifications
· CISMP (Certificate in Information Security Management Principles) or equivalent information security qualification.
· ITIL certification, with experience applying IT service management principles to support operational excellence and service delivery.
· PRINCE2 Practitioner (or equivalent project/programme management qualification).
· MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) or equivalent programme management qualification would be advantageous.
